Dr. Robert W. Drakeford
, Auburn University/Chairman (Retired)

Dr. Drakeford formerly served as an Extension Specialist and the Coordinator of the Volunteer Programs and After Schools Programs with the Auburn University Alabama Cooperative Extension System. He was also the Teen Summit Coordinator. Dr. Drakeford received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Connecticut, and a Master of Regional Planning (Community Development Planning) from UNC-CH, a Master of Science in Public Health (Program Evaluations) The UNC-Greensboro. With over 28 years of experience, Dr. Drakeford formerly worked in the Department of 4-H and Youth, affiliated with the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology. A former member of the Graduate Faculty, Drakeford has taught courses in Community Organizing, Municipal Government, Diversity, Volunteerism, and Community Health.

Dr. Charles Tita, Shaw University/International Affairs Advisor

Born in the Republic of Cameroon, Charles Tita is associate professor and chairperson of English at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also serves as assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Shaw University where he has responsibility for developing and evaluating long-range operational plans. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of Yaounde in 1985 and a post-graduate diploma (Maîtrise) in English in 1986. In 1987, he entered the Howard University Graduate School where he earned the M.A./Ph.D. in English in 1993. He has revised his doctoral dissertation, "The Relation of Narrative and Non-Narrative Discourse in Tristram Shandy," into a book-length manuscript. Tita is English Representative for the College Language Association (CLA).

His research interests include narratology, eighteenth-century novel, literary theory, and colonial/post-colonial experience. In 1996, he was a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at the University of Ghana in Accra where his research focused on the interface of African literature and modern experience. Tita is the author of several scholarly publications and is editor of Humanities Reader (Tapestry Press, 2000).

Charles Tita is very active in the university community. He served as Shaw University Editor for the SACS self-study report (2000-2002). Because he believes strongly that reading and writing are the two most essential catalysts for the success of students, he spearheaded a drive that led to the implementation of a Writing Across the Curriculum program at Shaw University in 2002. The President in 2002 appointed him Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences when the Dean went on a one-year sabbatical to NASA. Tita sits on over a dozen university committees and task forces, and he also serves as editor for the Shaw University Divinity School. He is equally active in his local community. He constantly visits and lectures to children in the public schools and numerous student clubs in Raleigh-Wake County. He was guest speaker at the regional convention of American Business Women Association, held at the Faculty Club of North Carolina State University in 2000. He was recently elected to the Board of Trustees at Davie Street Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Dr. Henry Frierson, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill/Education Advisor

Dr. Frierson is a Professor of Educational Psychology, Measurement and Evaluation, at UNC-CH. He is the Director of Evaluation, Assessment & Policy Connections (EvAP). Dr. Frierson received a BS in Psychology and his teachers' certification from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. He received a Master in Education in Educational Psychology form Wayne State University. Dr. Frierson received his PhD in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University. Dr. Frierson was a National Institute of Education Post Doctoral Summer Fellow, National Institute of Education, Washington, D.C.

Paul C. Bland (JD)

Paul C. Bland is a member of the faculty at Bryant and Stratton College where he teaches course in business law and management he has also taught in the Management and Marketing department and Virginia state University. He has done research n the areas of entrepreneurship employment matters, and corporate governance. Attorney Bland has received national awards for leadership and teaching. With over 30 years of business and legal experience he brings a unique prospective to Drakeford and Associates. He received a JD from Duke University, MBA from Harvard University and BA from Howard University.

Crystal German, MBA/Corporate Advisor

Dr. Keenan Grenell

Dr. Grenell is the Director of the Masters of Public Administration Program at Auburn University. He is currently Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A native of Cleveland, Mississippi, he is a graduate of Tougaloo College, Mississippi State University and received his PhD from Northern Illinois University in 1993, joining Auburn's faculty that fall. In 1994, Dr. Grenell started the nationally recognized African-American Entrepreneurship Summit. The Summit is the only African-American Entrepreneurship program at a major research university in the country. As a second generation educator and entrepreneur, he has used the Summit as a tool to increase African-American marketplace participation by advocating enterprise solidarity, community stewardship, and engaging in activities that foster self-determination.

Derrick is a faculty member of North Carolina Central University in the Masters in Public Administration Program, and served as the Director of Freshman Studies at Shaw University. Derrick has consulted with nonprofit organizations, schools, businesses, and churches for eleven years. He holds a BS in Political Science from Bethune-Cookman College; a Masters in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina's School of Government; a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from UNC's School of Social Work; a Certificate in Proposal Writing and Fundraising for Nonprofits from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Marcus Becton, JD, Masters degree in Planning

Marcus Becton is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and he received his undergraduate degree from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in May 2004. He was also enrolled in the joint-degree program where he received a Masters degree in City and Regional Planning. In law school, Marcus gained experience in nonprofit law, and he is fully equipped to aid nonprofits in incorporating, drafting bylaws, applying for 501(c)(3) status, and addressing other legal and financial issues.

Marcus is very passionate about helping to uplift impoverished and underserved communities. Several of his internships over the years are evidence of his desire to assist such communities. Marcus has worked at Self-Help Credit Union, the Durham Community Land Trustees, Inc., and the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, which all have a mission to provide affordable housing and economic empowerment to low-income residents of North Carolina. In September of 2004, Marcus will be a full time junior associate with The Banks Law Firm, P.A., where his primary responsibilities will be to give legal and financial advice to housing authorities that are seeking to renew their obsolete public housing stock.

Marcus is excited to be a part of Drakeford and Associates, where he'll have the opportunity to aid nonprofits in the fulfillment of their missions. He understands that complex problems, such as poverty, youth pregnancy, and high incarceration rates, often require complex solutions, and, through Drakeford and Associates, Marcus plans to aid nonprofits in providing those solutions.

Stephanie K. Harris, (MPA) Development Associate

Stephanie is an alum of Howard University in Washington D.C. where she received a BS in Computer Science. She is skilled in client development, research, and technical writing. She currently serves as the Program Director at Communities In Schools of Orange County. Her development and grant writing experience present an added element to Drakeford and Associates Consulting. She will receive her Masters in Public Administration from NC State University in the Spring of 2007.

Tricia M. Taitt (MBA)

Tricia Taitt, MBA is an alum of DUKE UNIVERSITY, The Fuqua School of Business in Durham, NC where she received her Master of Business Administration. She is also a Fuqua Merit Scholarship Recipient and served as the Professional Development Chair, Black and Latino MBA Organization. She is an alum of THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, The Wharton School, Philadelphia, PA where she recieved a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Finance Major/ Spanish Minor, She has worked for CHUCK DAVIS DANCE ENSEMBLE, Durham, NC; CITIGROUP, New York, NY; and MERRILL LYNCH, New York, NY

Angel Wright-Feldman (MPA)

Angel Wright-Feldman is the Senior Staff Analyst for the City Manager of Raleigh, NC.  In this role she manages the federal legislative agenda, citywide projects, and works closely with the Raleigh City Council. A native of Milledgeville, GA, she received her Masters in Management Information Systems from Strayer University, Washington, DC.  She then completed the Master of Public Administration from The University of Tennessee.  Her Bachelors degree in History was also completed at The University of Tennessee.  Mrs. Wright -Feldman is actively involved in several community organizations such as; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Jack and Jill of America, and she was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Earth Share North Carolina.  The most exhilarating work that she has done has been in the mission field.  Angel regularly does missions work with the Four Square denomination. Her goal is to go on mission trip to Africa sometime during the next couple of years.
